I Hate R.I.C.E.

Some lower extremity pain has me resting, icing, compressing, and ...I'm not really elevating. Soleus I think. Dam snowshoeing! I've talked to Mr. 300Km week, and gotten some ideas to speed up recovery, but I'd love to open up the floor to everyone's special remedies.

I think it'll be an informative conversation for everyone to share their recovery and repair secrets. So...WHAT DO YOU DO?

  3. I agree with Coo, cept to step it up you should do the repeats on a steep snowless slope with your snowshoes on, then you'll know you're hardcore!

  4. This really helps. So more hills + more snowshoeing + less snow = more hard core. Got it!

  5. Hardcore = more hills + snow covered mountains + no headlamp + no snowshoes = Coo.

As for your soleus.. depending on the exact injury, the ice/rest combo should straighten out most overuse strain type setbacks - rest usually being key.

Oh and at the risk of sounding like a hippy, dont underestimate the power of positive thinking.

  7. Thanks, guys. What exactly will I be compressing with the pink compression sock? I like your recovery style, Katie. I hope it's working for you...seriously.
